Adrian Darvin Smith

(1931-2005)

Adrian was born Aug. 21, 1931 in Waco. He attended LaVega schools and graduated from Waco High in 1949. He then went to Baylor University, taking night classes while he worked, and he served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

He married Patricia “Pat” Ann Boulter of Wachapreague, Va. on Sept 9, 1954.. If ever a woman deserved honorary membership at our lodge, it is Pat. She is as much a constant at our lodge as any Brother and it has often been said that no stated meeting is official until Pat’s pineapple upside down cake has been eaten. Pat, your husband gave so much to our lodge and you have continued that legacy with your whole own fervency and zeal. Thank you.

Adrian was employed by the Texas Highway Department from 1955 to 1961 where he was a survey crew chief. He then became the assistant county engineer and worked 36 years for the McLennan County Engineers Office. He was a former member, Sunday school superintendent and deacon of Spring Street Baptist Church. He was also a current member and deacon of Western Heights Baptist Church at the time of his passing.

In addition to serving as Master of Waco 92, he was District Deputy Grand Master District 61 in 1981. He was chairman of the Grand Lodge Registration, a 33rd degree member in of the Scottish Rite, Degree Master of the 32nd degree, chairman of the Scottish Rite Food Committee, member of the Scottish Rite Hospital Transportation Committee, member of the Karen Shrine Hospital transportation committee and secretary of the Karem Shrine Past Masters Association.
