John W. Jones

Along with four others, John Jones was one of the first County Commissioners at the creation of Mclennan County in 1850. Their primary role was to select and establish the county seat. There was an argument for the location between Bosqueville and Waco but they ultimately settled on Waco. Jones was also in the small group of people who traveled with George Bernard Erath to found and settle Stephenville.
