January 2017’s Concert:
Waco 92 has been busy in many ways so far in 2017. We continued in our annual capacity as the workforce behind Grand Lodge’s coffee shop during the Grand Communication from January 19-21. Masons from all over Texas raved on social media about the bbq we served. Waco 92 also played host to Brother Brandon Jenkins, a country music singer who was made a mason at Hill City Lodge #456 in Austin. This was the second annual Waco Masonic Concert put on by Waco 92 after last year’s was held in our old home at 8th and Washington with local musicians Kayla Ray and Josh Barnard. This year’s performer, Brother Jenkins, is well-
known for having written such Texas country classics as “Feet Don’t Touch the Ground,” “Down in Flames,” and current regional top 10 hit “Shadow of a Broken Heart.” He easily recognizable among masons for his pride in the fraternity as evidences by his tattoos. You can get a taste of his music by clicking here. This year’s Waco Masonic Concert was held at the Backyard Bar & Grill in downtown Waco.
Local masons present included a number of Waco 92’s currently active members with their wives, current Master of the Lodge Mark Brickhouse and his wife Pati, the newest past potentate of the Karem Shrine Bruce Bubel, and more. Waco 92’s own John-Michael Gillaspy donated security personnel for the evening via his security company. Brother masons from across the state also attended and several of them left reviews for the event:
“Enjoyed the hospitality extended by you and your lodge at the Backyard, during the Annual Convention this past Friday. Good times, great fellowship with many brothers, great food and refreshments provided by Backyard! Great music provided by a brother and his band as well!”
–Jon Wych, Haltom City Lodge #1331

“Checking in from Gray #329 in Houston and the event was great! I look forward to it next year. It was an awesome break from the formal events of the weekend and a great chance to spread the cement. Thanks again!”
-Erickson Ybarra, Gray Lodge #329
