Making Waco Men Better Since 1852

July Newsletter

From The East

Brethren,
It is a genuine honor to be elected as Worshipful Master of Waco 92. At the same time, it is an awesome responsibility, and one that I am willing to take at a time when the future of this lodge, now more than ever, depends upon our collective willingness to serve and support the goals for the year and maintain a sound financial footing. As many of you are aware, we have recently incurred a considerable expense in roof repairs. This was an issue that we couldn’t ignore or put off. While this was the most important item, there are other maintenance items that will need to be tackled to keep Quebe Temple in good repair.
So much for the physical considerations; in other news, we are truly excited by the addition of a number of entered apprentices, one recently raised master mason, and a fellowcraft mason who will be raised next Thursday. The lodge is growing, and we are admitting new brothers who are seeking more light in masonry. Your attendance will help to make these special events even more special!
I will have plenty more to say as the year progresses, but for now, just keep in mind that we will be actively pursuing opportunities to practice one of our sacred tenants, which is charity. I want to urge all of the brothers of Waco 92 to make a point to attend and participate in your lodge, as many brethren are already doing! With more participation, simply, we can do even more, so let us not limit ourselves.

Fraternally,
Mark Brickhouse

From the Secretary

Greetings Brethren,

Congratulations to the new officers of Waco Masonic Lodge No. 92 AF&AM. Join with me in wishing the newly elected Worshipful Master, Br. Mark Brickhouse, a successful year in the East. Brethren, if Br. Brickhouse approaches you about being a member of a committee, please say yes. As his secretary of the lodge, I pledge my full support to Br. Brickhouse.

Junior Past Master Marshall went out of office in a bang. Congratulations to all our newly initiated members. As they begin their journey in Masonry, please encourage them to be an active member of this great fraternity. Not only do we have new EA’s in our ranks, but we have also had several Mason’s raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Our newest Master Mason is Br. Ryan Gifford. Congratulations to Br. Gifford. Br. Gifford is also one of Br. Brickhouse’s appointed officers. We also have a few petitions that are in beginning stages. Keep up the great work. We need more members anxious to further their journey in Masonry.

This month is a busy month for Waco 92. Our stated meeting is on Thursday, July 7th.
On Friday, July 8th we will take part in the Joint Installation of Officers of Masonic District 61 at the Waco Scottish Rite Library and Museum. The meal, which will be catered at $10 per person, will begin at 6PM. The installation will follow directly after the meal. On Saturday, July 9th we will be holding a field day at the lodge to get ready for our annual hosting of Tranquility Lodge No. 2000 AF&AM on Saturday, July 17th. We still need members to sign up to help with the clean up. At this time we do not have a lot of members signed up. Brethren, the more members we have to help with the cleanup, the quicker it can get done. Please sign up to help. It is hard to get any work done when just four or five members show up. Help us with this Field Day. A lunch will be served for those that help with the clean up.

Thanks to all of you that paid your 2016 lodge dues. This year we only had a few members that went suspended for nonpayment of dues. I will be in touch with them to make sure that they get their dues in. The dues for 2017 will be going out around the end of October and the first part of November. This is just a reminder that the dues for 2017 have been increased to $100. The Grand Lodge Assessment fee, which is optional, has been increased to $27.50. When you receive your dues notice, please be prompt with your payment. At our June stated meeting the membership also voted to increase our endowment to $1000. So if you are thinking about purchasing an endowment, the endowment has been increased to $1000.

The Worshipful Master has asked me to inform the membership of Waco92 that a letter and Building Fund Card will be going out shortly asking the membership to contribute to our Building Fund. We recently put a new roof on the lodge building, and we are in need of funds to replenish our Building Fund monies. We spent a little over $29,000 on the new roof. Your contributions to the Building Fund will be much appreciated. The new roof has gotten a good test over the past few weeks with all the rain that we have had.

Brethren, I have been asked by a widow of one of our members to announce that she has two cemetery spaces at Waco Memorial in the Masonic Garden to sell. If you are interested, please contact me, and I will give you her name and phone number to contact. You may reach me at the lodge at 254-772-1801 or on my cell phone at 254-214-0311. You can also reach me by email at secretary@wacomasonic.org.

Hope to see everyone at lodge in July. Happy Fourth of July to everyone!

Fraternally yours,

Tom Waden, Secretary
